Since being formed 10 years ago as LaserMotive, PowerLight has set three world records for beaming power over light, won three NASA government awards, and advanced a dozen generations of technology systems. Their patent-pending multilayered safety solution now makes long distance wireless power beaming safe and commercially viable. They are the first and only team to develop a viable technology platform that demonstrated wireless power transfer of 400 watts over 1 kilometer. Since then, Powerlight has received validation from industry-leading companies and government labs, and they are globally recognized.
In 2017 PowerLight Technologies decided to partner with ISOutsource and would occasionally seek IT support. The relationship was very reactive as PowerLight’s talented Engineering staff was doing most of their IT support. However, in 2020 it became clear to the leadership that this was becoming a distraction for their Engineering staff. Powerlight recognized they might be putting their organization at risk since all the boxes were not checked when it came to cybersecurity and optimization. Bob Zak, COO at PowerLight says: “Risk can kill your business.” This is when PowerLight made the shift from reactive to proactive and began maturing its IT infrastructure.“ISOutsource is very good at ensuring IT infrastructure standards are met”, he adds.
Bob Zak shares “Karl K., Jason S. and Karl S. are quality individuals who have helped us increase our cybersecurity posture and ensure that we are first to adopt new technologies.” PowerLight loves that they can call into ISOutsource’s help desk for immediate IT support and that they have the team mentioned above to support them strategically.
PowerLight most recently created a cybersecurity management plan. This plan ensures they can accept new government contracts. They continue to work with Karl K. and Jason S. to ensure they are not just doing the bare minimum but creating the best cybersecurity management plan there can be.
PowerLight is consistently improving their compliance standards and expanding into cloud services as well. They continue to focus on cybersecurity and ensure they are on the cutting edge of new practices and technologies. With the changes coming to CMMC Level 3, they will continue to adjust and refine all processes to ensure they can continue to win new government contracts.
