Technology Support for Fire Districts

 

OVERVIEW

ISOutsource began working with regional fire districts in the state of Washington over 10 years ago. In an effort to fulfill our mission of strengthening our communities, we take pride in supporting our emergency response teams in their use of technology. As a result of several mergers, Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue needed to integrate their technology and overhaul their new brand.

 

OUR HISTORY WITH SNOHOMISH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICTS

In 2011, ISOutsource developed a strategic partnership with the City of Monroe’s Fire Department¬†(Snohomish Fire Protection District #3) by performing a Business Technology Assessment, known as a BTAP.¬† In 2012, we conducted a BTAP for Snohomish Fire Protection District #7. The results of the BTAPs revealed a need to modernize their IT infrastructure and prepare for future technology transitions.

In 2015, Snohomish County 911 transitioned its dispatch and records management system from an outdated system to a modern platform provided by Tyler New World Systems (NWS).

The implementation of the recommendations from the BTAPs was pivotal to this successful transition and opened the doors for our team of trusted advisors to partner with additional Snohomish County Fire Districts as well as a BTAP engagement with Lake Stevens’ Fire Department.

 

MERGING DISTRICTS, AN EMERGING MEGA DISTRICT

As a result of several mergers, Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue was created. A mega-fire district, it servers over 162,000 residents across 140 square miles. This spans the distance from Mill Creek and Lake Stevens to Monroe and beyond. This district employs over 300 personnel across its leadership, administration, 24/7 responders, and support services who respond to an estimated 17,670 alarms each year.

 

NEW DISTRICT, NEW INFRASTRUCTURE

The rebranding to Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue required the consolidation and migration of multiple technology infrastructures. Given our proven track record with this district over the past 10 years, ISOutsource was tasked with providing a strategic solution to support growth, innovation, and collaboration.

 

OUR STRATEGIC RECOMMENDATIONS

This migration project began early in March 2021 and endeavored to maintain 24/7 systems availability, workflow, processing, storage, and services through each phase. Working closely with the district’s leadership and staff, the team will maintain dynamic flexibility to navigate changing schedules and deployment hurdles as well as staffing and logistic challenges. Our team also leverages the district’s power users to support and interface with end-users to work towards a positive outcome.

Upon completion, the district’s architecture will provide unified, robust, and reliable IT infrastructure able to support the outstanding service they provide to their communities.
